Belgian loafer
Very soft, light slip-on with a small bow on the vamp and a thin, flexible sole. It is less sturdy than an ordinary loafer and belongs to summer: with linen trousers, chinos and an open-collar shirt. It is named after the New York shop Belgian Shoes; it is traditionally made in Belgium.

From the Guide
- With flannel trousers in winter, suede penny and tassel loafers go well; Belgian loafers and driving moccasins are too summery for that.
- Brown suede loafers are the most versatile shoes: safe with light, gray, navy, taupe and olive trousers.
