Winter boot

Tall, lined leather boot for snow, usually with shearling inside and a soft, grippy rubber sole. It keeps you warm where Chelsea boots and derbys reach their limit, and stays plain. With jeans and corduroy and a down jacket or overcoat, it is the calm counterpart to the moon boot and the snow boot. Outside of snow and cold it looks heavy.

From the Guide

  • Boots need trousers with weight: safe with jeans, taupe, olive and brown. With light summer trousers they are too heavy.
  • Boots suit chinos in fall, not linen trousers in summer.
