Inseam

The inner leg length from the crotch to the hem. It determines how the trousers rest on the shoe: the longer, the more break forms above the shoe. With loafers and slim trousers, no break or only a slight one suits; with lace-up shoes and wider trousers, a slight one. If the length falls between two sizes, having them shortened by a tailor is worthwhile.
