Gabardine
Dense fabric in a steep twill weave with a fine, steep diagonal rib on the face. Gabardine is smooth, hard-wearing and weather-resistant and is woven from wool or cotton. It is used for trousers and for raincoats such as the mac coat. The fabric became known through Thomas Burberry, who used it for weatherproof coats.
