Fresco
Worsted in an open plain weave made of highly twisted yarns. Hold the fabric up to the light and you see the loose grid. It is breathable, wrinkles little and recovers quickly, which makes it good for trousers and sport coats from spring to fall and for travel. Medium gray makes a pair of trousers that goes with almost any top.

- Brown suede loafers, black smooth leather loafers and lace-ups are safe with gray trousers.
- With flannel trousers in winter, suede penny and tassel loafers go well; Belgian loafers and driving moccasins are too summery for that.
- White sneakers and boots work, but make the wool trousers more casual: good on the weekend, less so at the office.
