One pair is safe (trousers with shoes), two “work” – deliberately combined a little more casually.

Swap one piece, keep the rest – the new piece always goes safely with the other two. In 9 of the 12 combinations all three pairs are safe; in the rest the weaker pair of the original remains. Most similar first, by formality and classic level.
